oh, hey there
Hi! I’m Jarrett.
I decided to start The Home Girl Co. because I want to educate people about how to buy a home, how to improve it, and how to enjoy it…so basically to talk about everything home-related! I bought and renovated my first house when I was 21. I remember being OBSESSED with looking at houses online and one day while I was having coffee with my parents my dad suggested I just buy one of my own. But how!? I was young, didn’t have a ton of money and had a job that paid close to nothing. It was then I learned that buying a home isn’t nearly as hard as people think, and within a few months I bought my first home: a 1920s craftsman bungalow! At that time I was living in the Midwest and I was able to purchase that home for $120K. Later I went on to sell that home for $185K and it was then that I realize how much home ownership can help people build wealth, because in that single sale I made more money on the profit than I did in a year of working my job. Shortly after I bought that home (and realized how much I loved the process), I decided to get into real estate, and have been selling houses ever since!
my story
how it all began
Over the years I have helped many friends and clients (who later became friends), purchase homes of their own, and in some cases, make big money when they decided to sell! As a hobby, I have continued buying homes and in the last decade have purchased ten of my own, some of which I’ve lived in, some flipped, and some have run as Airbnb’s. Between selling real estate and owning a lot of it myself, I have learned TONS…and I want to share it all with you here! When I am not selling real estate or renovating houses, I like to travel, spend time with friends and family, cook, and throw big parties. I have lots of random hobbies, lots of pets, and spend lots of time dreaming about what type of home and project I want to conquer next. I want to be your resource for every home question you need answered! It is my hope that I can help you learn how to get into home ownership, give you some tips and tricks for what to do once you’re there, and teach you about all the mistakes I have made along my own journey so that you can avoid them!
XOXO
Jarret
